Computing with Claire
SIFT IT is an oracy-based debugging framework I developed to help children slow down, talk through their thinking and work out what has gone wrong in their code. Each letter is a step in the process.
By giving children a structure and sentence starters for their debugging conversations, SIFT IT helps make their thinking visible and gives them a way to tackle problems more independently, rather than relying on an adult to spot the mistake for them.

Resources
Here you’ll find some of the resources I’ve created for my Oracy in Computing training. They’re designed to be practical, easy to use and adaptable across different areas of the computing curriculum. I’ll be adding more resources here, as well as a recorded webinar for anyone who would like to explore the ideas behind them in a little more detail.
All resources, lesson plans, slide decks, and worksheets available on Computing with Claire are created with care for individual teacher and classroom use and remain the intellectual property of Claire Walmsley.
You are welcome to adapt them for your own students, but please do not:
-
Remove original branding or logo credits
-
Re-upload files to public or shared school drives and resource platforms
-
Upload or feed files into AI systems/tools that utilise input content for data training or model regeneration
-
Re-distribute or re-sell materials without prior permission
By downloading the resources, you agree to these terms.
Thank you for supporting independent educational content.
